Most food service establishments have it: the sheet on the fridge door where someone is supposed to write down the temperature every morning. In practice, it gets forgotten during a busy lunch, filled in afterwards, or the sheet disappears just before the Norwegian Food Safety Authority shows up for an inspection.
With the food safety module in Vevja, the rounds are in the app that employees already use to clock in. Here’s how it works in everyday operations.
Rounds are set up once
As a manager, you enter your control points — refrigerators, cold rooms, freezers, and warming cabinets — with the applicable temperature limits. Then you create routines: a morning round between 07 and 10, a daytime round, an evening round, goods receipt, and cleaning. Each routine has a time window and is assigned to a work location.

You also decide who should carry out the rounds. If you select “Kitchen staff only,” only those marked as kitchen staff in the duty roster will see the tasks.

Employees see what’s left for today
When Emma opens the Vevja app at work, she selects Food Safety. The tile shows how many rounds are left for today.

Inside Food Safety, she sees today’s rounds grouped by routine, with time windows, limit values, and who has done what. Three numbers at the top summarize the day: open, completed, and not completed.

One measurement takes just a few seconds
She taps the refrigerator, enters the temperature, and presses Completed. The limit is displayed right below the field, so she can immediately see if the measurement is within range. Commas or periods don’t matter — “3,4” works just fine.

The measurement is saved with the name and timestamp. That’s exactly what you need when someone asks, “Who took this measurement, and when?”
Photo when you need proof
Some routines aren’t about temperature but about ensuring tasks are completed: kitchen cleaning, checking incoming goods. You can require a photo for such routines. In that case, the round cannot be marked as completed until the photo is uploaded.

What you gain
- No loose papers. Everything is stored together, with names and timestamps for each measurement.
- Right person for the right round. Only those who should carry out the rounds see them.
- Missed rounds are visible. Tasks not completed within the time window are marked as not done.
- Same app as the timesheets. No new login to remember for employees.
In the next article, we’ll look at what happens when a measurement is out of range and how deviations are handled.
